Powys teenager claims he didn’t know indecent images were illegal
A POWYS teenager has admitted four counts of making or possessing indecent images of children.
Zedekiah Mills-Price, 18, is due to be sentenced next month after appearing at Llandrindod Wells Magistrates’ Court this week. Mills-Price, of Badgers Green, Crossgates, admitted to the four charges brought against him, which allegedly took place between June 18, 2020 and March 10, 2021.
The first accusation concerns the making of an indecent photo of a child under 16, which would be a video; the second load includes making three category B images of a child; charge three alleges the making of two category C images of a child and charge four says he was in possession of 170 prohibited images of a child.
Prosecutor Stephen Davies said officers executed a warrant for the accused on March 9 last year after receiving information.
“They seized a number of items including a laptop and a phone,” Mr Davies said.
“These were sent for analysis and 170 banned images were found, mostly Japanese hentai-related cartoons, showing indecent acts with children.
“He was questioned and didn’t accept the charges initially, he said he didn’t download anything, but earlier this year he admitted he had been on some websites.”
Acting for Mills-Price, Owain Jones said: “He himself was under 18 when these offenses were committed.
“It was the intention of the police to handle this in a different way but because of the hentai images they had to take the matter to court. He didn’t realize the images were illegal .
Magistrates said they would retain jurisdiction over the case and adjourned it so that an all-options pre-sentence report could be made. Mills-Price is due to be sentenced on July 6.
