News – The Sandstorm: fans of the genre encounter resistance
On March 28, Governor Ron DeSantis signed into law Florida’s House Bill (HB) 1557, which prohibits or restricts schools from teaching children certain sexual matters. The core of the new law states that “classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties about sexual orientation or gender identity may not take place in kindergarten through 3rd grade or from in a manner that is not appropriate for the age or development of the students in accordance with the state. standards.”
The news was greeted in many quarters with histrionic outrage. President of the American Federation of Teachers Randi Weingarten grumbled that the law “will single out certain children and families for derision and disparagement. This is simply untrue. Its intention is to divide our communities and make political hay, but it hurts children, hurts families and makes it difficult for teachers to do their job.
Barely. It just doesn’t allow teachers to discuss some gender identity issues with young children. Weingarten also foolishly insisted that the law would shame “LGBTQIA+ people into going back to the closet by monitoring their identities.”
After the bill was signed, a gay teacher in Parish, Florida, chillingly lamented that he couldn’t talk about his love life with her kindergartens over.
However, no one was more outraged than Joe Biden. March 31 – the day some celebrate as the “International Day of Transgender Visibility– the president has insisted that his administration is “stand up” for transgender americans “against ‘hate bills’ passed at the state level” and assured them, “you are so brave. You belong. And we support you.
To show that Biden is really, really serious about his position, his administration’s Department of Health and Human Services raised the pink, white and blue striped “transgender flag” at its DC headquarters.
Scary, the justice department got in on the act, issuing a press release on Transgender Awareness Day in which he claimed to have sent a letter to all state attorneys general “reminding them of the federal constitutional and statutory provisions that protect against discrimination, including when these young people seek gender-affirming care. The missive says laws and policies that prevent individuals from receiving gender-affirming medical care may violate federal constitutional protections under the Equal Protection Clause and the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. Unsurprisingly, the word “parent” never appeared once in the document.
And California — of course — is doing what it can to maintain its reputation as the wackiest state in the country. Democratic lawmakers are propose to make California a paradise for transgender youth and their parents fleeing from other states. State Senator Scott Wiener said – seemingly with a straight face – “They have a safe place to go if they are threatened with lawsuits. California will not be part of this new wave of Murderous Criminalization of LGBTQ.”
It’s fascinating how a bill that doesn’t allow for discussion of gender identity issues from K-3 can turn into “lethal criminalization of LGBTQ.” How the Babylon Bee maybe satirize?
In fact, California is actually anti-Florida, and has done a lot to disempower parents. Witness it:
· AB 2119, which was adopted in September 2018, provides that “the rights of minors and non-minors placed in foster care…include the right to participate in the development of elements of intervention plan related to the placement and gender-affirming health care, taking into account their gender identity”. At the time, the American College of Pediatricians (ACPeds) filed testimony against the bill, urging lawmakers to reject it. “Children with gender dysphoria believe they are not their biological sex,” reads the group’s March 2018 testimony. “An illusion is a fixed false belief. This bill proposes that adopted children with gender dysphoria be socially affirmed in their delirium and allowed to obtain experimental puberty blockers, dangerous cross-sex hormones and surgery without parental consent.
In September 2021, AB 1184, a bill co-sponsored by Planned Parenthood, became law. As the California Family Council explains, this dictate “prohibits insurance companies from disclosing to the policyholder the “sensitive services” of anyone on their policy, including minor children (from the age of 12), even if the policy owner is financially responsible for the services. The term “sensitive services” refers to all health care services related to mental or behavioral health, sexual and reproductive health, sexually transmitted infections, substance use disorders, gender affirmation, etc. care”, but as defined by the University of California at San Francisco, it is hormone therapy and a long list of surgeries including vaginectomy, scrotoplasty, voice modification, etc., up to nausea.
At a California Teachers Association conference in October 2021, teachers were briefed on “best practices for subverting parentsconservative communities and school principals on issues of gender identity and sexual orientation.
The Los Angeles Unified School District Office of Human Relations, Equity, and Diversity hosted a 10-week conference online club for LGBT primary school children, including children as young as four years old in the fall of 2021.
And then there’s Disney, which is in a state of rage over the passage of Florida’s parental rights bill. As Christopher Rufo explains, Disney executives immediately called a “Reimagine Tomorrow Conversation Series” meeting for its executives and “engaged mobilize the entire company to serve the “LGBTQIA+ community.” Among those recruited were a “black, queer and trans person”, a “bi-romantic asexual” and “the mother [of] a transgender child and a pansexual child” and “announced ambitious new initiatives – seeking to change everything from gender pronouns in corporate theme parks to the sexual orientation of background characters in movies of the company”.
Additionally, speaking in blunt terms, Disney executive producer Latoya Raveneau laid out the company’s game plan. She said her team was putting together a “not at all secret gay diaryand regularly “add homosexuality” to children’s programming. Production coordinator Allen Martsch said his team created a “tracker” to ensure that “they create enough canonical trans characters, canonical asexual characters, [and] canonical bisexual characters. “”Company president Karey Burke said she “is supportive of having ‘lots, lots and lots of LGBTQIA characters in our stories’ and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to making of at least 50% of its on-screen characters from sexual and racial minorities.”
The obsession with the genre has also extended to Disney’s Anaheim and Orlando theme parks. Vivian Ware, head of diversity and inclusion, explains that Disney made the decision last year to eliminate all references to “ladies”, “gents”, “boys” and “girls” to create “that magic moment” for children who do not identify with traditional gender roles.
It should be noted that Disney, whose name conjures up warm and fuzzy images of Mickey, Donald, Goofy and Tinkerbell, has over the years been the corporate equivalent of a guy in a heavy-breathing, sweaty trench coat who hiding in a park. For example, a six-month survey in 2014 found that “at least 35 Disney employees were arrested for sex crimes against children, attempted encounter with minors for sexual purposes and possession of child pornography in the last eight years”. Additionally, other Disney employees have shown an ongoing interest in child pornography on the Internet.
The transgender movement is sectarian and can have disastrous consequences. Brown University physician and researcher Lisa Littman published a study in 2018, which showed that “rapid onset gender dysphoria” in young people may be partly driven by “social and peer contagion. She points out that nearly 70% of teens were involved in a peer group in which at least one friend identified as transgender. In some groups, the majority had done so. Nearly 65% of teens spent more and more time online and on social media, and “parents reported that pro-transgender YouTube videos and blogs could have been influential.” It’s unclear how many kids who joined the cult took it to the next level and actually engaged in hormone blockers and self-harm.
In reality, “Sex is determined at conception by our DNA and is etched into every cell of our body,” says Dr. Michelle Cretella, president of the American College of Pediatricians. “Human sexuality is binary. Either you have a normal Y chromosome and you become a man, or you don’t and you will become a woman. There is at least 6,500 genetic differences between men and women. Hormones and surgery cannot change that. No more than Disney, Joe Biden, Randi Weingarten or any other fanatic of the genre.
The good news is that a poll taken in late March found that when Americans were confronted with the actual wording of Florida’s new law, 61% are in favor, while only 26% oppose it. Above all, there is bipartisan support. Republicans support it by a margin of 70% to 23%, while Democrats back it at 55%-29%. And, indeed, the States act. Georgian lawmakers have already introduced a bill that would similarly restrict “classroom discussion of sexual orientation or gender identity” and other bills targeting related content in schools are waiting in Indiana, Tennessee, Oklahoma and Kansas. Hopefully the other 44 states will get on board soon.
