Jones mocks Adesanya for calling Pereira ‘with shiny fingernails and a Frozen reference’

Israel Adesanya isn’t getting much accolades after his cautious title defense win over Jared Cannonier at UFC 276 last night (Saturday July 2, 2022) in Las Vegas, Nevada. One person who was particularly harsh in his assessment was Jon Jones, who hosted an impromptu Q&A with fans on Twitter after the event.

Adesanya went 50-45, 49-46 and 49-46 en route to a unanimous decision win over Cannonier (see highlights here). But, past the scores, there was little dominance inside the cage as we saw in Max Holloway’s Alexander Volkanovski route. Instead, ‘The Last Stylebender’ was content to maintain a defensive posture and counter ‘The Killa Gorilla’, never letting his opponent mount a big attack and never putting his foot on the accelerator either.

After the decision win, Adesanya called out de facto Division No. 1 contender Alex Pereira, saying, “Next time I’ll put you on skates. You will freeze like Elsa.

Somewhere in Albuquerque, NM, heavyweight Jon Jones rolled his eyes and took to Twitter.

“Bro I can’t stop thinking about this shit,” Jones wrote. “How are you going to threaten a guy like Alex with shiny fingernails and a Frozen reference. I’m here scratching my head.

He also commented on Pereira’s knockout victory over Sean Strickland, tweeting, “Yeah I ride with him all day. He made it look too easy. Really hard to believe he wasn’t ranked before this fight.

After that, “Bones” started asking fans questions, the biggest and most obvious being, “When are you fighting Stipe Miocic? »

“I don’t know, but I’m glad Dana came out and said something,” Jones wrote. “I’m ready, I’ve been ready. Waiting for an appointment.

On whether he would rather fight Miocic or Francis Ngannou, Jones replied: “At this point I’m looking to fight Stipe, I think that proves a lot more. Fighting a fairly one-dimensional fighter fresh out of knee surgery. I don’t know, I think beating Stipe says more at this point.

Jones shot Adesanya one more time before logging off from social media, amplifying a fan’s reference to “The Last Stylebender” watching hentai:

As Jones mentioned, there is no firm date for his comeback against Miocic. Rumors put the potential war on a fall card, with the UFC’s annual return to Madison Square Garden in November a likely candidate. Will it actually happen, though? Or will “Bones” just keep shooting the fighters who are actually competing?
